Dudhwa National Park

Dudhwa National Park, established in 1977, is a prominent wildlife sanctuary located in the Terai region (District: Lakhimpur Kheri) of Uttar Pradesh, India. Spanning approximately 1,284.3 square kilometers, it encompasses the Dudhwa National Park, Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary, and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary. The park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, including species such as Bengal tigers, Indian rhinoceroses, swamp deer, leopards, and over 400 bird species.

HOW TO REACH DUDHWA NATIONAL PARK

  • By Air:
    The nearest airport to Dudhwa National Park is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, approximately 230 kilometers from the park. Bus services are available from Lucknow to Dudhwa on daily basis.
     
  • By Train:
    The nearest railway station to Dudhwa National Park is Palia Kalan, about 10Km away. However, it is a small station and trains from major cities do not stop there. To reach Dudhwa National Park via train, one has to first reach Shahjahanpur Railway Station which is at a distance of 170Km from Dudhwa and has very well connected train service with major Indian cities. A train named Gorakhpur Mailani Special Express departs daily in the morning from Shahjahanpur Railway Station and takes 4-5 hours to reach Mailani Railway Station which is at a distance of 37Km from Dudhwa. A train from Mailani to Palia Kalan can be taken, subject to the availability on a particular day, otherwise bus services from Mailani is also available for Dudhwa.
     
  • By Road:
    Dudhwa National Park is well-connected by road to major cities like Lucknow, Shahjahanpur, Delhi, and Agra. Regular bus services are available from Lucknow to Lakhimpur Kheri (130Km) and from Lakhimpur Kheri to Dudhwa (90Km).
